Global Grants Hub strategic note

This opportunity is for individual storytellers, not NGOs, media companies or agencies. Applicants should also check the audience threshold carefully: content creators and data visualisers require at least 5,000 combined followers, while journalists may demonstrate their reach through publication circulation or audience instead. A generic climate-change pitch will not be enough. Africa No Filter is specifically looking for stories that make the connections between climate justice, debt, gender and fossil fuels understandable and compelling. Competitive applicants should propose an original narrative rooted in communities they can genuinely access and show how their storytelling will move beyond stereotypes while still addressing difficult accountability issues. Applicants should provide credible audience evidence and avoid artificial engagement. Africa No Filter explicitly excludes accounts or posts whose engagement has been financially boosted, as well as content that reinforces harmful stereotypes about Africa or violates its ethical storytelling principles. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so there is an advantage in submitting well before the final deadline.
