Requirements
- Be under 35 years of age
- Be a citizen of an African Union Member State
- Be currently employed in an African country
- Hold a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Have at least three years of relevant experience
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of Excel, R, SQL, Python, ODK, Kobo and Power BI
- Obtain written permission from the current employer to undertake the two-year fellowship and return to employment afterwards
- Provide a separate support letter from a government institution, National Public Health Institute or equivalent authority
- Provide a valid African Union Member State passport
- Provide two professional recommendation letters
- Provide the relevant degree certificate and academic transcripts
- Complete the mandatory African Union CV template
- Prepare a motivation statement of no more than 500 words
- Demonstrate proficiency in at least one official African Union language

Global Grants Hub strategic note
This fellowship is best suited to professionals already working at the intersection of health and technology. Applicants should have practical experience in public health, digital health, data science or health information systems. A major requirement is employer and government support for the full two-year programme, so applicants should obtain these letters early. Strong candidates should also be comfortable with tools such as Excel, R, SQL, Python, ODK, Kobo and Power BI. Applicants without relevant health-data experience or without institutional permission to leave their current role for two years are unlikely to be competitive.
